Sahih Muslim 2637 a
Abu Huraira reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: When Allah loves a servant, He calls Gabriel and says: Verily, I so and so; you should also love him, and then Gabriel begins to love him. Then he makes an announcement in the heaven saying: Allah loves so and so and you also love him, and then the inhabitants of the Heaven (the Angels) also begin to love him and then there is conferred honour upon him in the earth; and when Allah is angry with any servant He calls Gabriel and says: I am angry with such and such and you also become angry with him, and then Gabriel also becomes angry and then makes an announcement amongst the inhabitants of heaven: Verily Allah is angry with so-and so, so you also become angry with him, and thus they also become angry with him. Then he becomes the object of wrath on the earth also.
- This hadith from Sahih Muslim describes how Allah shows His love and anger towards His servants. According to the hadith, when Allah loves a person, He commands Gabriel (Jibreel) to love him as well. This love is then announced to the inhabitants of heaven (the angels), who also begin to love that person. As a result, the person is bestowed with honor on earth. On the other hand, when Allah is angry with someone, He commands Gabriel to become angry with that person. This anger is then announced to the inhabitants of heaven, who also become angry with that person. Consequently, that person becomes an object of wrath on earth as well. The main message of this hadith is that Allah’s love and anger are significant and influential. If someone gains Allah’s love, they are blessed with love from others as well, and if someone incurs Allah’s anger, they become the subject of wrath from others as well. It emphasizes the importance of seeking Allah’s love and avoiding His anger through righteous deeds and avoiding sins.
