Did Jesus mention the name YHWH in the New Testament
The Hebrew word “Elohim,” which is used in Genesis 1:1 to refer to God, has been translated as “Allah” in some Arabic translations of the Bible used by both Christians and Jews. Therefore, in those Arabic translations, Genesis 1:1 would read “In the beginning, Allah created the heavens and the earth.” However, the name YHWH is not mentioned anywhere in this verse or in the surrounding text.
- Some of our fellow Christians consistently lie about the name Yahweh and our false god’s name is Jesus John 17:3. They also argue that the name YHWH is not present in the Quran and that Prophet Muhammad was unaware of the name of God. My question is, did Jesus know the name Yahweh? Why did Jesus and his disciples not used this name in the New Testament? Can we assume that Jesus is a false Messiah and that previous prophets and messengers who did not used this name are also false? Therefore, before questioning Muslims about this name, you should first address why it is not mentioned in the New Testament.
Muslim Perspectives on the Name YHWH
The name YHWH is not present in the Qur’an or the New Testament, so we cannot make any definitive statements about it. However, according to the Quran and Hadith, there are many names of God, so it is possible that YHWH may be one of them.

- This Verses highlights the universal submission and glorification of Allah by all of His creation, both animate and inanimate, in the heavens and on the earth. The verses also emphasizes that Allah has the power to humble and punish those who disobey Him, while bestowing honor on those who follow His commandments.

How to Write the Names of god in Hebrew
Some Christians try to prove that “Yhvh” is the real name of god by presenting all the names of god in Hebrew. Let’s look at how to write these names in Hebrew:
- Adonai – אדונים
- Yhvh – ה ‘
- Joehovah – יהוה
- Even translators of Bible doesn’t know what is the name of God they keep translating it how they want, The New American Standard translators admit the fact that “It is known that for many years YHWH has been transliterated as Yahweh, however no complete certainty attaches to this pronunciation” Principles of Translation from the “Preface to the New American Standard Bible,” 1997 edition. However, The most serious matter to be noted is that “Adonai” has been dropped by alomost every versions of Bible and many Christian claims that KJV is second to none in English version of Bible which uses Jehovah for God. If Jesus spoke Greek according to Christian then Eloi or Eli are also name of God according to Matthew 27:46 & Mark 15:34

Elohim, El, and Eli: Understanding the Hebrew Names for God
Elohim El, Elah, Alah. In the Bible, God is very often referred to as ‘Elohim’ in the Hebrew language. The ‘im’ in the ending is a plural of honour and God is referred to as ‘El’ or ‘Elah’ in the English Bible with commentary, edited by reverend C. I. Scofield. ‘Elah’ is alternatively spelled as ‘Alah’. The difference in spelling is only of a single ‘L’. - This statement of Jesus (pbuh), “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani” is preserved in its original Hebrew in each and every of it translation which is available in more than 2000 different languages of the world and in each and every of them, “Allah” is present.

- Jesus cried with a loud voice saying “ELI ELI LAMA SABACHTANI?” that is to say, ‘My God, My God why hast Thou Forsaken Me?’ Does this sound like “Jehovah! Jehovah! Why has thou forsaken me?” Does it sound like Abba Abba (FATHER)? The answer is ‘No’. Hebrew and Arabic are sister languages and if you translate “ELI ELI LAMA SABACHTANI?” into Arabic it is ‘ALLAH ALLAH LAMA TARAK TANI’. Doesn’t it sound similar? If Jesus were God Himself, as Christians allege, does it mean that God was forsaken by God? Moreover, can that who felt hopeless and desperately shouted for help be a god? Actually: being hopeless, he was asking help from God (Allah).
Why Name Allah preferred to the word ‘God’?
Muslims prefer calling Allah (swt) with His Name ‘Allah’, instead of the English word ‘God’. That is because Allah has called himself Allah in the Glorious Qur’an. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) too has called God by the name Allah. The Arabic word Allah is pure and unique, unlike the English word God which can be played around with. If you add ‘s’ to ‘god’, it becomes ‘gods’ which is the plural of the word ‘god’. Allah is one and singular, there is no plural of Allah. If you add ‘dess’ to god, it becomes ‘goddess’ i.e. a female god. There is nothing like male Allah or female Allah. Allah has no gender. If you add father to god, it becomes ‘godfather’ (meaning guardian). There is nothing like ‘Allah Abba’ or ‘Allah father’ in Islam. If you add mother to god it becomes ‘godmother’. There is nothing like ‘Allah Ammi’ or ‘Allah Mother’ in Islam. If you put tin before god, it becomes tin-god i.e. a fake God, there is nothing like ‘tin Allah’ or fake Allah in Islam. ‘Allah’ is a unique word, which does not conjure up any mental picture nor can it be played around with. Hence, Muslims prefer the name Allah when referring to the Almighty Creator. But sometimes while speaking to non-Muslims we may use the inappropriate word ‘God’ for Allah.

Unbiased Christians will not fail to recognize Allah as none other than his – El, Eli, Alle, Elah, Alah, Allah. Call upon Him by any name, for His are the Most Beautiful names, as long as those names are not contaminated and as long as they do not conjure up in our minds the images of men or monkeys howsoever glorified they might have been.
