Hadith on Adhan: The Effect of Adhan on Satan

📖Sahih Muslim 388 a
Abu Sufyan reported it on the authority of Jabir that he had heard the Messenger of Allah (ï·º) say: When Satan hears the call to prayer, he runs away to a distance like that of Rauha. Sulaimin said: I asked him about Rauha. He replied: It is at a distance of thirty-six miles from Medina.

  • In this hadith, it is mentioned that Satan flees away upon hearing the call to prayer. This means that Satan is afraid of the remembrance of Allah and the worship of the believers, and he cannot stand to be in the presence of those who are engaged in acts of worship. The call to prayer is a reminder for the believers to turn towards Allah and seek His guidance, and Satan cannot bear to be near those who are striving to be closer to Allah. The distance mentioned in the hadith is symbolic, emphasizing the fact that Satan flees as far away as possible from the call to prayer.
