📖Sahih al-Bukhari 6011
Narrated An-Nu`man bin Bashir: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “You see the believers as regards their being merciful among themselves and showing love among themselves and being kind, resembling one body, so that, if any part of the body is not well then the whole body shares the sleeplessness (insomnia) and fever with it.”
- This hadith from Sahih al-Bukhari highlights the importance of unity and solidarity among believers in Islam. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is describing the believers as being like one body, where each part is interconnected and dependent upon the other. Just as a body is made up of different parts, with each part fulfilling a unique function, the believers too have different roles and responsibilities within the community. However, despite their differences, they are united by their faith and their love for each other. The hadith emphasizes that when one part of the body is in pain or suffering, the rest of the body feels the effects of that pain, highlighting the importance of empathy and compassion among believers. Similarly, when one member of the community is in need, it is the responsibility of others to help and support them, just as the other parts of the body support the injured or sick part. In essence, this hadith encourages Muslims to build a strong, supportive community that is based on love, compassion, and unity, and to work towards the well-being and betterment of all members of the community.
