📖Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2378
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said: “A man is upon the religion of his friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends.”
- This hadith from Jami` at-Tirmidhi, narrated by Abu Hurairah, highlights the importance of choosing one’s friends wisely. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) teaches that a person’s character, values, and religious beliefs are heavily influenced by their companionship. Therefore, it is essential to surround oneself with good and righteous people who will positively impact one’s own religious and moral development. The hadith also warns against the potential negative effects of keeping bad company. If a person consistently associates with those who have negative or corrupt values, they are likely to adopt those same values themselves, potentially leading them away from the path of righteousness.
Overall, this hadith emphasizes the importance of selecting friends who will be a source of positive influence and guidance, and avoiding those who may lead one astray.
