📖Sunan Abi Dawud 3571
Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet (ï·º) said: He who has been appointed a judge has been killed without a knife.
- This hadith, which is found in Sunan Abi Dawud 3571, indicates the great responsibility that comes with being a judge. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is saying that a judge’s decisions can have such serious consequences that it is as if they are being held responsible for someone’s death. In other words, the gravity of the decisions that a judge makes can impact people’s lives in significant ways, and therefore judges must be extremely careful, fair, and just in their rulings. The hadith is a reminder to judges that they should not take their role lightly, and that they will be held accountable for their judgments on the Day of Judgment, Tirmidhi 1322.
