Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: I shall be pre-eminent amongst the descendants of Adam on the Day of Resurrection and I will be the first intercessor and the first whose intercession will be accepted (by Allah).
- The meaning of the hadith is that on the Day of Judgment, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) will have a pivotal role. The commencement of the Day of Judgment will be initiated by the Prophet Muhammad going to Allah and requesting intercession on behalf of humanity. Allah, in His acceptance of the Prophet’s intercession, will signify the beginning of the Day of Judgment. In essence, this hadith highlights the special status and authority granted to the Prophet Muhammad by Allah Quran 17:79. It emphasizes his crucial role as the intercessor and his ability to initiate the events of the Day of Judgment through his request for intercession.
