đź“–Sahih al-Bukhari 5971
Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! Who is more entitled to be treated with the best companionship by me?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Your mother.” The man said. “Who is next?” The Prophet said, “Your mother.” The man further said, “Who is next?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Your mother.” The man asked for the fourth time, “Who is next?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Your father. “
- In this hadith, a man asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about the best way to treat others. The Prophet replied that the person’s mother deserves the utmost kindness and companionship from him. When the man asked for the second time, the Prophet again emphasized the importance of treating the mother well. The same response was given for the third time. Only after the fourth time did the Prophet mention the father, indicating that the mother has three times more right to be treated kindly and respectfully than the father. This hadith highlights the immense value and significance of a mother in Islam and encourages Muslims to honor and respect their mothers.
