📖Sahih al-Bukhari 6460
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “O Allah! Give food to the family of Muhammad.”
- This hadith is a narration from Abu Huraira, one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) made a supplication to Allah, asking Him to provide food for his family. Muslims learn from this hadith the importance of supplicating to Allah for their needs, and to put their trust in Him to provide for them. It also shows the Prophet’s deep concern for the well-being of his family and his love for them. Regarding the question of why the Prophet (ﷺ) asked Allah for food while he was a prophet of God, it is important to understand that being a prophet does not mean that one is immune to the hardships of life. Prophets, like all human beings, face challenges and difficulties in their daily lives. Moreover, it is the nature of prophets to be humble and to rely on Allah for everything, including their basic needs. This is why we see numerous examples of the Prophet (ﷺ) and other prophets supplicating to Allah for their needs throughout the Qur’an and Hadith.
