Hadith on Prophet: Upholding Good Manners in Speech and Conduct

đź“–Sahih al-Bukhari 3559
Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: The Prophet (ﷺ) never used bad language neither a “Fahish nor a Mutafahish. He used to say “The best amongst you are those who have the best manners and character.” (See Hadith No. 56 (B) Vol. 8)

  • This hadith, narrated by Abdullah bin Amr, highlights the noble character and behavior of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The hadith states that the Prophet never used vulgar or obscene language, neither did he indulge in abusive or offensive speech. Instead, he always spoke with kindness and respect, and his words were characterized by a gentle and compassionate tone. The hadith also underscores the importance of good manners and character in Islam. The Prophet emphasized that the best among the believers are those who possess the finest qualities of character and conduct. In Islam, a person’s worth is not determined by their wealth or status but by their piety, ethics, and behavior towards others. Therefore, it is essential for Muslims to strive to improve their manners and character and follow the exemplary conduct of the Prophet Muhammad.
