Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri narrated (that the Prophet s.a.w) said: “When the son of Adam wakes up in the morning, all of his body parts bow to the tongue and say: ‘Fear Allah regarding us, we are only part of you. If you are straight we are straight and if you are crooked we are crooked.
- This hadith narrated by Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri highlights the importance of being mindful of our speech and the impact it has on our actions and character. According to the hadith, every morning when we wake up, all of our body parts “bow” to our tongue and remind us to fear Allah regarding them. Our tongue is considered to be the source of our speech, and our speech has a direct impact on our actions and character. If we speak truthfully, kindly, and in a manner that is pleasing to Allah, our actions will follow suit, and we will lead a righteous life. On the other hand, if we speak lies, hurtful words, or engage in gossip, it can lead us down the path of wrongdoing. Therefore, it is essential to be mindful of our speech and ensure that we use our words in a way that is pleasing to Allah. By doing so, we can keep our actions and character in line with the teachings of Islam and strive to become better Muslims.
Overall, this hadith emphasizes the importance of mindfulness and self-awareness, particularly with regards to our speech, and how it can impact our entire being.
