Sahih Muslim 2588
Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Charity does not decrease wealth, no one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises his status.
This hadith from Sahih Muslim 2588, contains three important teachings about the blessings of Allah (SWT) that can come from performing good deeds and showing kindness towards others:
- Charity does not decrease wealth: This means that giving to charity does not decrease a person’s wealth, but rather it can increase their blessings and reward in this life and the hereafter. This is because when we give to those in need, Allah (SWT) rewards us with more than we gave, both in terms of blessings and spiritual benefits.
- Forgiveness increases honor: When we forgive others, Allah (SWT) rewards us by increasing our honor and status among people. This is because forgiveness is a noble quality that reflects a person’s strength and character, and it is pleasing to Allah (SWT).
- Humility raises status: When we humble ourselves for the sake of Allah (SWT), Allah (SWT) raises our status and honor. This is because humility is a sign of faith and submission to Allah (SWT), and it is pleasing to Him. When we humble ourselves, we acknowledge our dependence on Allah (SWT) and seek His help and guidance, which in turn brings us closer to Him and raises our spiritual status.
