Sahih Muslim 1838 a
It has been narrated on the authority of Yahya b. Husain who learnt the tradition from his grandmother. She said that she heard the Prophet (ï·º) delivering his sermon on the occasion of the Last Pilgrimage. He was saying: If a slave is appointed over you and he conducts your affairs according to the Book of Allah, you should listen to him and obeey (his orders).
- This hadith teaches us that if a slave (i.e., a person of low social status) is appointed as a leader, and he governs in accordance with the teachings of the Quran, then he should be obeyed and followed. This means that the criteria for leadership in Islam is not based on social status, wealth or power, but rather on knowledge, wisdom, and righteousness.
The message of this hadith is to encourage Muslims to follow the guidance of the Quran in all areas of life, including in matters of leadership and governance. It also highlights the importance of obedience to those in positions of authority, as long as they are acting in accordance with the teachings of the Quran.
