The number of Muslims around the world

Today, Saturday, May 6, 2023, it is estimated that 2,008,421,482 people around the world identify themselves as Muslims, which represents over 25% of the world’s total population of 8,033,685,927. Islam, with its large following, ranks second in terms of the number of believers globally. This religion is officially recognized in 26 nations situated across the continents of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa. In terms of expansion, Islam is growing at a faster pace than any other religion worldwide.

The latest estimates suggest that the number of Muslims worldwide has surpassed 2.01 billion as of 2023, positioning Islam as the second-largest religion globally, following Christianity.
