Hadith on Abominable: Taking Action Against Wrongdoings

📖Sahih Muslim 49 a
The Messenger of Allah as saying: He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue, and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heart, and that is the least of faith.

  • This hadith from Sahih Muslim states that if a person sees something wrong or abominable happening, they should take action to stop it. The first and most effective way is to physically intervene and stop the wrong action with one’s own hand. If a person is not physically strong enough to stop the wrong action, then they should speak out against it and use their tongue to condemn it. If a person is still unable to physically stop the wrong action or speak out against it, then they should at least hate it in their heart and feel disgusted by it. This hadith emphasizes the importance of taking action against wrongdoings, no matter how small the action may be. It also highlights that even disliking something wrong in one’s heart is considered the minimum requirement of faith.
