Sahih al-Bukhari 4522
Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say, “O Allah! Our Lord! Give us in this world that, which is good and in the Hereafter that, which is good and save us from the torment of the Fire.” (2.201)
- The meaning of the hadith is that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to supplicate to Allah, asking for goodness in both this world and the hereafter. He sought blessings, benefits, and goodness in his worldly affairs, as well as in the afterlife. He also sought protection from the punishment of Hellfire, expressing his reliance on Allah’s mercy and grace. The hadith emphasizes the importance of seeking goodness in all aspects of life and seeking refuge in Allah from harm in the Hereafter.
