📖Sahih Muslim 2578
Jabir b. Abdullah reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrection, and be on your guard against stinginess for stinginess destroyed those who were before you, as it incited them to shed blood and make lawful what was unlawful for them.
- In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) warns the believers to avoid two grave sins: oppression and stinginess. He cautions that oppression will be a source of darkness on the Day of Resurrection, indicating that it is a serious offense in the sight of Allah. Moreover, the Prophet (peace be upon him) warns against stinginess, as it caused previous nations to become corrupt and engage in prohibited acts such as shedding blood and consuming unlawful things. Therefore, this hadith emphasizes the importance of avoiding these two sins and encourages the believers to strive for justice and generosity in all aspects of their lives.
