📖Sahih Muslim 156
Jabir b. ‘Abdullah reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: A section of my people will not cease fighting for the Truth and will prevail till the Day of Resurrection. He said: Jesus son of Mary would then descend and their (Muslims’) commander would invite him to come and lead them in prayer, but he would say: No, some amongst you are commanders over some (amongst you). This is the honour from Allah for this Ummah.
- This hadith from Sahih Muslim 156 reports a saying of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in which he foretells that a group from his followers will continue to strive for the truth and uphold the message of Islam until the Day of Judgment. This indicates the enduring nature of the struggle to maintain the Islamic faith and values, even in the face of adversity and challenges. The hadith further mentions that when Jesus (peace be upon him) returns, he will decline the invitation to lead the Muslims in prayer, indicating that the Muslims will have their own leaders to guide them in religious matters. This is a sign of the honour and responsibility that Allah has bestowed upon the Muslim community to establish and maintain the religion of Islam. In Islamic eschatology, it is believed that when Jesus (peace be upon him) returns, he will establish the law of Islam and will rule with justice and equity. This is in line with the Quranic teaching that Allah has chosen Islam as the final religion for humanity and that it is the duty of Muslims to spread its message and establish its principles in society.
