Hadith on Medina: The Sanctity of Medina

đź“–Sahih al-Bukhari 1867
Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Medina is a sanctuary from that place to that. Its trees should not be cut and no heresy should be innovated nor any sin should be committed in it, and whoever innovates in it an heresy or commits sins (bad deeds), then he will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people.” (See Hadith No. 409, Vol 9).

  • This hadith from Sahih al-Bukhari, a collection of sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), narrated by Anas, states that Medina is a sacred place and should be respected as such. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that the area from one end of Medina to the other is considered a sanctuary and is protected. He also prohibited the cutting down of trees and any innovation in religious practices or committing any sins in Medina. The hadith emphasizes that anyone who violates the sanctity of Medina by innovating in religious practices or committing sins will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people. Therefore, it is important for Muslims to show respect and reverence for this sacred city.
