Hadith on Paradise: Belief in Allah, Muhammad, and Jesus

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 3435
Narrated ‘Ubada: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “If anyone testifies that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone Who has no partners, and that Muhammad is His Servent and His Apostle, and that Jesus is Allah’s Servent and His Apostle and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit created by Him, and that Paradise is true, and Hell is true, Allah will admit him into Paradise with the deeds which he had done even if those deeds were few.” (Junada, the sub-narrator said, ” ‘Ubada added, ‘Such a person can enter Paradise through any of its eight gates he likes.”)

  • This hadith from Sahih al-Bukhari 3435 highlights the importance of the testimony of faith (Shahada) in Islam, which declares that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His Messenger. It also emphasizes the acceptance of Jesus as a prophet of Allah, who was born miraculously to Mary, and was granted the status of His word and spirit. Muslims already believe in all the prophets and messengers of Allah, including Jesus, who was sent with a message of monotheism and submission to Allah. By testifying to the oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad, and accepting Jesus as a prophet of Allah, one can enter Paradise even if their good deeds are few. This hadith underscores the importance of belief in the fundamental tenets of Islam and the unity of all prophets in delivering the message of submission to Allah. Additionally, the hadith mentions that such a person will be able to enter Paradise through any of its eight gates, indicating the vastness and generosity of Allah’s mercy towards His servants who sincerely believe and do good deeds.
