Hadith on Parents: Kindness to Loved Ones of Father

📖Sahih Muslim 2552 b
‘Abdullah b. Umar reported Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: The finest act of goodness is that a person should treat kindly the loved ones of his father.

  • This hadith (narration) from Sahih Muslim, a collection of authentic sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), highlights the importance of being kind and respectful to the loved ones of one’s father. In Islamic culture and tradition, parents are highly respected and honored, and their children are expected to treat them with kindness and obedience. However, this hadith goes beyond that and encourages people to extend their kindness and compassion to the relatives of their fathers, such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. This teaches us the value of maintaining strong family ties and being good to our relatives, especially those who are related to us through our fathers. Being kind and considerate to our loved ones, both immediate and extended, is an essential part of being a good Muslim and a responsible member of society. It can also bring blessings and happiness to our lives and the lives of those around us.
