Sahih al-Bukhari 22
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “When the people of Paradise will enter Paradise and the people of Hell will go to Hell, Allah will order those who have had faith equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed to be taken out from Hell. So they will be taken out but (by then) they will be blackened (charred). Then they will be put in the river of Haya’ (rain) or Hayat (life) (the Narrator is in doubt as to which is the right term), and they will revive like a grain that grows near the bank of a flood channel. Don’t you see that it comes out yellow and twisted”
- This Hadith indicates that even those who had only a tiny amount of faith in their hearts will eventually be saved from Hellfire. This Hadith also gives hope to people who have sinned and made mistakes in their lives that Allah is merciful and forgiving. However, this should not be taken as a license to continue committing sins and transgressions, as Allah also warns us about the consequences of our actions. Overall, this Hadith is a reminder of Allah’s mercy and forgiveness towards His servants, even those who have committed sins, and that they will not stay in Hellfire forever if they have even the slightest amount of faith in their hearts.
