Hadhth on Joking: Prohibition of Lying to Make People Laugh

Narrated Mu’awiyah ibn Jaydah al-Qushayri: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Woe to him who tells things, speaking falsely, to make people laugh thereby. Woe to him! Woe to him!.

  • This hadith warns against telling lies or spreading falsehood in order to make people laugh. Such behavior is considered blameworthy and sinful in Islam. It reminds people to be careful with their words and not to use humor as an excuse for unethical behavior
