Hadith on Experience: A Wise Believer Learns from Mistakes

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 6133
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “A believer is not stung twice (by something) out of one and the same hole.”

  • The phrase “A believer is not stung twice (by something) out of one and the same hole” is a metaphorical expression. It means that a wise person learns from their mistakes and does not repeat them. Just like if a person gets stung by a bee from a specific hole, they will avoid that hole in the future to prevent being stung again.

In a similar manner, a believer who experiences harm or trouble from a particular source should learn from the experience and take measures to prevent it from happening again. It emphasizes the importance of being cautious and proactive in preventing potential harm and taking appropriate steps to avoid repeating past mistakes. It also highlights the wisdom of not exposing oneself to unnecessary risk or danger.
