Hadith on Prayers: Rewards for Incomplete Prayers

📖Sunan Abi Dawud 796
‘Ammar b. Yasir said: I heard the apostle of Allah (ﷺ) say: A man returns after saying his prayer while a tenth part of his prayer, or a ninth part, or an eight part, or a seventh part, or a sixth part, or a fifth part, or a third part, or half of it, is recorded for him.

  • This hadith from Sunan Abi Dawud 796 is indicating that if someone performs their prayer, and for some reason, they are not able to complete it, Allah (SWT) still records a portion of their prayer, even if it is just a small fraction of it. The hadith mentions that a person’s prayer will be recorded even if only a tenth, ninth, eighth, seventh, sixth, fifth, third, or half of it is performed. This is a reminder to Muslims that they should strive to complete their prayers in full, but if they are unable to do so, they should not despair, as Allah (SWT) is merciful and will still reward them for their efforts. It also serves as a motivation to perform prayers regularly, even if one is unable to complete the entire prayer due to unforeseen circumstances.
