Hadith on Rights: Protecting Orphans and Women

📖Sunan Ibn Majah 3678
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said: “O Allah, bear witness that I have issued a warning concerning (failure to fulfill) the rights of the two weak ones: Orphans and women.’”

  • This hadith from Sunan Ibn Majah 3678 is a statement attributed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in which he invoked Allah as a witness to his warning about the importance of fulfilling the rights of two vulnerable groups: orphans and women. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of orphans and women, who are among the most vulnerable members of society. Orphans are children who have lost one or both parents and may be at risk of exploitation and neglect. Women, on the other hand, may face discrimination and marginalization due to their gender. By invoking Allah as a witness to his warning, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the seriousness of this issue and the importance of fulfilling the rights of these two groups. It serves as a reminder to all Muslims to treat orphans and women with kindness, compassion, and fairness, and to fulfill their rights according to the teachings of Islam
