Hadith on Brotherhood: Loving for Your Brother What You Love for Yourself

📖Sunan an-Nasa’i 5017
It was narrated from Anas that : The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: “By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, none of you has believed until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself of goodness.”

  • This hadith from Sunan an-Nasa’i, narrated by Anas, conveys a powerful message about the importance of brotherhood and love among believers. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) swears by Allah that a person’s faith is incomplete unless they have love for their fellow believers and wish for them the same goodness and blessings that they desire for themselves. In other words, true faith requires that we not only care about our own well-being and success, but also actively seek the well-being and success of others in our community. This means that we should have a genuine concern for our fellow believers and be willing to go out of our way to help them, support them, and show them kindness and compassion. This hadith emphasizes the idea of treating others the way we want to be treated, and loving others as we love ourselves. It serves as a reminder that our faith is not just about individual acts of worship or personal piety, but also about building strong and caring communities that uplift and support each other.
