Hadith on Mercy: Allah’s Mercy Overpowers His Anger

📖Sahih al-Bukhari 3194
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “When Allah completed the creation, He wrote in His Book which is with Him on His Throne, “My Mercy overpowers My Anger.

  • This means that even though Allah has set certain laws and rules for His creation to follow, He is also extremely compassionate and merciful. He gives countless opportunities for His creatures to repent and seek forgiveness for their mistakes and sins. It’s important to note that the concept of anger in Islam is not the same as human anger. It is not an emotion that Allah experiences like humans do. Rather, it refers to His displeasure with actions that go against His commands and harm His creation. Allah’s anger is a result of His divine justice and His desire to maintain order and harmony in the universe. When people disobey His commands and engage in wrongdoing, they disrupt this balance, and this is what leads to His displeasure.

Overall, the hadith is a beautiful reminder of Allah’s immense mercy and compassion, and it encourages believers to seek His forgiveness and mercy whenever they make mistakes or fall short.
